New Residential Subdivision
News Release
New Diamond Valley Subdivision Now Selling!
The Village of Carbon is very pleased to announce the opening of a new residential subdivision. This 19 lot subdivision has been planned for single family residences. A Municipal Tax Incentive Program is in place for those lots purchased before December 31, 2011. Lot pricing ranges from $32, 900 to $60, 900 with an average size of 7,500 square feet, most with 55 to 60 foot frontages.
Mayor Shirley D. Buyer is excited to see this development as she has been working on this in the Council Chambers since 1999. "It's finally a reality - a dream come true! This subdivision has been a discussion at the council table for many years and with the demand for lots in our safe and caring Village in the Valley, it will be great to have them available," commented Mayor Buyer.
Carbon currently has a population of 570 and has a rich history in agriculture and coal mining. Kneehills Creek meanders through the valley creating a picturesque community known for its relaxed and family-safe atmosphere.

Water Rate Increase
Council for the Village of Carbon is implementing an increase in the utility billing starting with the May / June billing scheduled to be mailed out by July 7.
a) A Flat $30.00 bi-monthly Administration / Maintenance Fee will be added to the utility bill.
b) For the first five thousand gallons (5000) or the metric equivalent of 22.73 cubic meters or less of water consumed, the rate of charge shall be: $69.30 bi-monthly.
c) For use over five thousand gallons (5000) or the metric equivalent of 22.73 cubic meters, the rate of charge shall be: $13.86 per one thousand gallons (1,000) or the metric equivalent of $3.05 per cubic meter.
This increase is to recover our water deficit. Kneehill Regional Water Services Commission (KRWSC) charges us an Administration Fee each month and the Maintenance Fee charged is for the Village's water / sewer maintenance.
The sewer and waste collection rates will remain the same.
